New Patients & What to Expect

Starting functional medicine care should feel clear and straightforward. Below is what to expect before your first appointment, during your visit, and after you leave with your personalized plan.

Daphne Al - Functional health and fitness

Starting care at Root Cause Healthcare and Fitness in Daphne, AL is simpler than most new patients expect. There are no referrals required, no assumptions about what you already know, and no pressure to arrive with a diagnosis in hand. Our new patient process is designed to be clear from the very first step — because the better we understand you going in, the more valuable your first appointment will be.

Most patients come to us after years of feeling like something is not quite right. They have had labs done, been told results are “normal,” and still feel the same way. If that sounds familiar, you are in the right place. The first visit is designed to change that narrative — by looking at your full picture and asking the questions that standard appointments rarely have time for.

Before Your Appointment

After you schedule, we will send questionnaires and intake forms to help us understand your health history and goals. Please complete these forms as thoroughly as possible. The more we know going into your visit, the more value we can provide during your appointment.

Complete your intake questionnaires
Gather recent lab work or relevant records (if available)
Write down your main symptoms and goals

During Your First Visit

Lab Work and Testing

If testing is recommended, we will explain what we are ordering and why. Lab work is used to guide a personalized plan, not a one size fits all protocol. Once results are back, we review them with you and connect the findings to practical next steps.

Standard labs may be processed through LabCorp or Quest. Specialty functional medicine testing may be recommended when appropriate.

Your Personalized Care Plan

We take time to understand your full health history, current symptoms, and what you want to achieve, not just today, but long term. That includes reviewing patterns that may have developed over time and discussing factors that can influence how you feel, such as stress, sleep, nutrition, medications, and daily habits.

Depending on your needs, your care plan may include targeted lab testing and a thorough review of results so you understand what they mean and why they matter. From there, we create personalized recommendations that can include nutrition support, supplement guidance when appropriate, lifestyle strategies, and other next steps designed around your body and your goals.

Our goal is to give you a clear plan that makes sense, with practical steps you can actually follow. We want you to leave each visit with clarity, confidence, and a path forward that feels realistic for your life.
